Viola Nicola Thornton entered eternal rest on May 27, 2024, in the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, Chesapeake, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Leneave Moses and the late Evelyn Sanderlin Thornton. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Frederick and Donnell Thornton.
Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, June 1, 2024, 12:00 noon at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Shiloh, North Carolina with Rev, Dr. William T. Davis, Pastor/Eulogist. Interment will be in the West Lawn Cemetery, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. A Wake/visitation will be Friday, May 31, 2024, from 5 – 7 pm at the funeral home.
Viola leaves to cherish her memories two brothers, Ross Thornton (Mary), Shiloh, North Carolina and Moses Thornton (Dorsha), South Mills, North Carolina; three sisters, Donna Stiles, South Mills, North Carolina, Elaine Chamblee (Joey), Shiloh, North Carolina and Evelyn Theresa Richardson (Kelvin), Elizabeth City, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Barbara Thornton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her sister at 206 Ibis Way, Elizabeth City, North Carolina on Wednesday and Thursday from 3 – 8 p.m.
