Sheila Denise Hunter Jackson entered eternal rest on June 8, 2026, at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late James Zack Hunter and the late Hillie Rae Roach Hunter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, James Hunter, Rosetta Williams, Mamie Spruell, and Janet Hunter; husband, Alton Jackson and longtime partner James Mangram.
Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, June 16, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina with Bishop David White, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the Stewart Family Cemetery in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. A viewing/visitation will be Monday, June 15, 2026, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sheila leaves to cherish her memory one son, Franklin G. Hunter (Tracy A.), Elizabeth City, North Carolina; one brother, Ronald Hunter (Daphne), Charleston, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
