Queenie Bell Obituary

 “Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see. Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come: tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home."

Queenie Victoria Chesson Bell entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 18 at Medical City Lewisville Hospital in Lewisville, Texas.  She was the daughter of the late James Aubrey Chesson and Ludia Mae Norman Chesson and the wife of the late Arthur Lee Bell, Sr.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Arthur Lee Bell, Jr., Kenneth Bell, and Doris Bell(infant); brothers, James “Jimmy” Chesson and Willie “Buddy” Chesson; sister, Lula Mae Chesson Downing; nieces, Alice Mae Downing Coffield and Jennifer Hill, and son-in-law, James Darrell Sykes.

Homegoing Celebration Service will be Thursday, October 30, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh Church of Christ, Roper, North Carolina with Bishop Gilliam, Eulogist.  Interment will immediately follow in the Shiloh Memorial Gardens, Roper, North Carolina.  A viewing/visitation will be 1 hour prior to the start of service at the church.

Queenie leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Deloris Jean Bell-Sykes of Plymouth, NC and Carolyn Ann Bell, Lewisville, TX; grandchildren: Kennika Butler, Charlotte,  NC, Donique Butler, Plymouth, NC, Kyeece McNair, Plymouth, NC, Mauquice Bell (Tiffany & daughter Kyla), Lewisville, TX, Quenisha Bell, Lewisville, TX, Jokia Bell, Hampton, Va., Ken’Erica Bell, Elizabeth City, NC, and Tajik Bell, Raleigh, NC; a host of great and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Lynwood Earl Chesson, Plymouth, NC, and her nieces she helped raised while still in her parents’ home: Brenda Downing and Evelyn Downing both of Amityville Long Island, NY., and Linda “Ann” Santiful of Hampton, Va.; cousin, Joseph “Jimmy” Spruill, Jamesville, NC. and a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
