Michael Lebrane Brantley, 58, of Elizabeth City, NC, passed away on July 7, 2017 at his home with his wife. He was born on November 17, 1958, in Neptune, New Jersey. Michael was an excellent cook and often shared his passion for cooking with everyone he knew. It was his way of sharing his nurturing spirit to those he cooked for. Michael was also a lover of music; He dj’d for lots of parties while growing up, which increased his passions, and he passed it on to his children, as well as family and friends. Michael was well known for his comedic sense of humor and his tell - it – like – it – is - personality.
For some he was a mentor and father-like figure, to know him was to love and respect him. He loved his family and always made sure they knew it, with not only words, but by his actions. whenever he was needed he was always there and ready to do anything he could to help.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife Sheila Brantley, four daughters Tyleesha, Tiffany, Jazmyn, and Kandice, three sons, Steven, Emanuel, and Christopher, (one brother) Gregory Thomas, (Tara) five sisters) Patricia Adetayo, (Joseph) Sally Blair, Veronica Blair, Tara Harris, and two sister-in-laws. Michael had ten grandchildren Aaron, Shaquaisia, Kyara, Jakai, Alaina, Britain, Khyb, Jazmyn, Raet, and Airess. Michael also had five Godsons, Makil, George, Jonathan, Russell, and Jayden; and was a father figure to Lashard, and Cameron. He will also be deeply missed by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents,Endia and James Blair, two sisters, Eva Hills, and Deborah Blair, one daughter, Alicia Mitchell.
Celebration of Life will take place on July 13, 2017 at 2 PM at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Viewing and visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
