Melvin Parker entered eternal rest on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He was born in Ahoskie, North Carolina to the late Nathan Parker and the late Doris Lassiter Parker and the husband of Bettie Jean Jones Parker (former Mayor of Elizabeth City, North Carolina) for fifty three years. He was also predeceased by two siblings Yvonne and O’Neal.
Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, December 7, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at Beach River Funeral Home Chapel, Elizabeth City, North Carolina with Rev. Virgle Wilder, Pastor of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, North Carolina as Eulogist. Interment will be in the West Lawn Cemetery, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. A viewing/visitation will be Friday, December 6, 2024, from 5 – 7 pm at the funeral home.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving wife, Bettie; one son, Marcel and one daughter, Endi (Matthew); three grandchildren, Chantelle, Dayonna, and Sydney; four sisters, Pecolia, Patricia, Barbara (Johnny) and Charlotte, three brothers, Cornell (Viola), Dwight and Glenn (Sandra); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
