Laura Sutton

Laura Idella Lindsey Sutton, of Hertford, NC, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton, NC. Celebration of Life will take place on Friday July 3,2015 at 1pm at Melton Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Viewing and Visitation will take place at the church on Thursday from 6-8pm. Laura Idella Lindsey Sutton (Duke)(Nana) was born on August 7, 1944 to the late James and Ruth Douglas Lindsey. She departed this life on Saturday, June 27, 2015. She was surrounded by her family as she slipped away to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her five brothers and three sisters. Laura attended Perquimans County Schools and was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church. In her early years she worked as a nanny and was also a homemaker. Laura is remembered and loved by everyone who knew her. Also, anyone who knew her can tell you she loved her fried crabs and playing cards. Laura married ti Cleveland Sutton in October of 1967. She loved everyone and any child she met she told them to call her Nana. Laura leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Cleveland Sutton; One son, Mark E. Lindsey Sr. (Terry) of Edenton, NC; Three daughters: Valorie L. Wilkins (Victor Sr.), Vinny D. Sutton, Monique S. Sutton, all of Hertford, NC; Tweleve grandchildren; Merkina Foster, Jamel Sutton, Tyrell Sutton, Machela Calloway, Ashley Wilkins, Shonterria Sutton, Chelsea Sutton, Mark Lindsey Jr., Erica Sutton, Telley Sutton, Jalen Lindsey, and Victor Wilkins Jr. Twenty one great grandchildren. Two sisters, Elsie Lee Sawyer and Beulah Jeanette both of Brooklynn, N.Y. Two brother-n-laws Wilson Sutton (Missouri) Hertbert Lee Sutton (Hertford, NC) Two sister-n-laws; Shirley Felton (Sammuel) and Olivia Sutton both of Hertford; a special friend of the family Gerald White; and a host of Nieces and Nephews, Cousins and Friends whom she loved dearly. Rivers Community Funeral Home is expressing sympathy through sincere service to the Sutton family.
