Mrs. Goleina Billups Commander entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Heritage Care, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Billups, Jr. and the late Arlenia Morris Billups and the wife of the late Walter Commander. She was predeceased by two brothers, Samuel Billups, III and Cleophus Billups and one sister, Lina Bell Lewis.
Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, April 20, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, North Carolina with the Rev. Virgle Wilder, Pastor/Eulogist. Interment will be in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. A viewing/visitation will be Friday, April 19, 2024, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
She leaves to cherish her memory four sisters, Clara Jones, Lenora Riddick, Janice Dawson all of Elizabeth City, North Carolina and Emma Hurdle (Wilbert), Portsmouth, Virginia; five brothers, Otis Billups, Richmond, Virginia, Calvin Billups, Indianaplois, Indiana, Curtis Billups (Jurline), Johnny Billups (Sally), and Octavious Billups all of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Billups and Sadie Billups, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
