Mr. George Mercer, Jr., age 87, of 1564 Caratoke Highway, Moyock, NC, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 16. 2015 at his residence. Graveside Services will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at New Sawyers Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Camden, NC. George leaves to cherish his loving memories; loving wife, Catherine Mercer of the home; seven daughters, Celestine Christian, Vivian M. Wilson (Joe), Thelma North, Joanne Lewis (Alphonso), Cathy Mercer, Christine Beavers, all of Moyock, NC and Gail Harris (James) of Elizabeth City, NC; three sons, Thomas Bogues (Peggy), George L. Mercer, III and Claude Mercer all of Moyock, NC; one sister, Elizabeth M. "Sissy" Johnson of Moyock, NC; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; thirty great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
