Darrell Ferdinand Melton, Jr. of Gates, County entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the son of the late Darrell F. Melton, Sr. and the late Rita Boyd and the husband of Caprice Cody Melton.
Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, April 12, 2025, 12:00 noon at Meherrin Native American Church, Winton, NC with Pastor Charles Reid, Eulogist. Interment will immediately follow at the Boone Family Cemetery, Gates, NC. A viewing/visitation will be Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the church.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Caprice Cody Melton; one loving sister, Carnesha Melton Parker (Shelton) of Gates, NC; two cherished nieces, Shania Melton and Shamira Parker, both of Gates, NC; his beloved mother- and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold & Monique Manigault, Gates, NC; two sisters-in-law, TaQuonda Hill (Kory), McDonough, GA, and Timeka Freeman, Suffolk, VA. He is also survived by three aunts: Janet Thorpe (Arthur), Mary Melton, and Patricia Howell (James), all of Gates, NC.; eleven uncles: Donald Reid (Evelyn), Corapeake, NC; Anthony Reid (Eve), Portsmouth, VA; Stanley Boyd, Chesapeake, VA; Billy Melton (Bernadette), Micheal Reid (Abbie) and Charles Ray Reid (Dale), all of Hobbsville, NC; Michael Melton (Dorles), Randy Melton (Freda), Nurnie Reid, Kenny Boyd (Dafen), Randolph Boyd (Cassie), and Ronnie Melton, all of Gates, NC. He will be especially remembered by his godson, Logan Bradshaw, along with a host of cousins, extended family, and friends who dearly loved him.
