Anita Whitehurst Reid

Anita Reid of 103 Golden Gate Drive Apt 302 Hampton Va. went peacefully to her rest with her family in prayer on Tuesday, May 26,2015. After growing up in Elizabeth City, NC, she graduated at the top of her class with a BS in Accounting from Elizabeth City State University. Anita raised four beloved children in Lexington, NC with Dr. James Edward Reid, Jr. She dedicated her life to building a beautiful home and family as well as bible study and community service. Anita memory lives on in the hearts of her children, Shawn Reid(Elizabeth) of Lexington, NC, Stacey Reid, Angela Reid both of Hampton, Va. and James Reid III of Williston, ND; mother, Dorothy Bowe; grandmother, Dorothy Lucinda Weeks; sisters, Beatheia Weeks and Shirley Whitehurst all of Elizabeth City, NC; grandchildren, Marissa Byrd, Emily Reid and Adrianne Reid; and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Celebration of life will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church at 1:30 pm. The family will receive at her mother's residence, Mrs. Bowe 404 York Street, Elizabeth City, NC. Rivers Community Funeral Home is expressing sympathy through sincere service.
